What do you appreciate most about our church community?
How supportive they are when anyone is in need, and how encouraging everyone is in
getting involved in the church. I also enjoy how scripturally sound the sermons are and the
community’s authenticity in their walks of faith.
What are your hobbies or interests?
I love being outdoors camping, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding or just enjoying a
campfire with friends and family. I also enjoy history, baking, and journaling.
Favorite family tradition or favorite thing to do as a family?
It’s difficult having our family traditions continue since we are all spread out across the
world, but when the whole family does get together we enjoy target shooting. We ended up
adapting a tradition from Colonial Williamsburg at Christmas. Every Christmas Eve, they
would have the annual firing of the Christmas guns. So, we decided to take on that tradition
of when we are all together during Christmas (sometimes Thanksgiving too), we go out and
target shoot.
What is a fun fact about you the most people don’t know?
I used to be an Irish step dancer. Because of that my favorite holiday is St. Patricks Day! I
occasionally break out my shoes and dance a bit.
What’s your go-to comfort food?
Pork, sauerkraut, and mashed potatoes. Emphasis on the mashed potatoes. 🙂
Morning person or night owl?
Neither, technically, but if I had to choose it would be morning.
Strangest thing you’ve ever done?
I don’t think that I’ve done anything strange. I’ve done some cool things like white water
rafting, and competed in cowboy mounted shooting.
What excites you right now?
The trips I have planned to see friends and family that live distantly from me. Also, to see my
niece and nephew get baptized!

Where are you from?
Bill: Born camp Lejeune North Carolina , lived in Haiti until I was 7 yrs and moved to Elyria Ohio
Amanda: I’m a military brat. So, I had to move quite a bit as a child. However, I have been living in Ohio for 40 years. I consider Wayne Co as home.
What do you appreciate most about our church community?
Bill: The way the word is taught, the love and prayers for each other.
Amanda: I’ve been studying the word for many years. However, I have learned more from this church than any other I have attended.
What are your hobbies or interests?
Bill: Hunting, fishing and shooting fire arms, just being out doors in general
Amanda: I like raising our chickens. I also love to read.
Favorite family tradition or favorite thing to do as a family?
We love to vacation together. We started baking Christmas cookies with the grandkids. So fun.
What is a fun fact about you the most people don’t know?
Bill: Became a marine in 1975, after I got out of the Marine corps. I became a police officer and remained there for 30 years.
Amanda: I’ve ridden on a camel and an elephant.
What’s your go-to comfort food?
Amanda: Any kind of soup in the cold winter.

Where are you from?
Gene: Well… I was born in Greenville Ohio but as a PK we moved a few times when I was a kid. Kenton Ohio, Hudsonville Mich and Columbus Ohio and finally Spencer Ohio.
Gail: Grove City, Ohio
What do you appreciate most about our church community?
Gene: The family-like environment and the overwhelming welcoming spirit of the Leadership Team.
Gail: The scriptural foundation and focus where members outwardly demonstrate their faith on a regular basis. While the church grows, it strives to maintain a small church feeling by encouraging members to pray for one another and support those who are in need.
What are your hobbies or interests?
Gene: The Outdoors in general, hunting, getting ready for hunting (365) trapping, raising cattle and taking care of our small farm.
Gail: Hunting, gardening, sewing, and of course spending time with the kids and grandkids
Favorite family tradition or favorite thing to do as a family?
Gene: Family big dinners and Deer Hunting with Grandkids and deer recovery with the whole family. Those are special memories.
Gail: Family dinners and hunting together, especially when we get to track a deer. We have made some great family memories during our track jobs.
What is a fun fact about you the most people don’t know?
Gene: I’m pretty boring actually…
Gail: Successfully hunting bears with a cross bow in Ontario Canada.
What’s your go-to comfort food?
Gene: Mashed Potatoes/Gravy, Fried Chicken, Green Beans and a Biscuit. And a Big Glass of Ice Cold Milk!

Strangest thing you’ve ever done?
Gene: Hmmm, I guess I fall back on the “boring” part. LOL Maybe Bear Hunting a couple different times in Northern Ontario Canada.
Gail: Tracking a wounded bear in Ontario Canada, with wolves howling all around us. I don’t know if it was strange, scary, or both!!!
What excites you right now?
Gene: Watching our Grandkids mature into Christian Young Adults and just watching the evolution from children to Teenagers.
Gail: Watching our kids and grandkids grow closer to Christ. There is nothing better!!

Larry: I grew up in Shreve, OH and went to Triway High School.

Larry: Contemporary service and Pastor Dave’s teaching.
Angela: I love pastor Dave and Kim, his way of teaching every week . The friendships we’ve created
What are your hobbies or interests?
Larry: Watching 20 grandkids in sporting events + officiating volleyball.
Angela: I love the sun and water. And thrift shopping

Larry: Camping, boating and Christian Concerts.

Larry: I have a motto….Life is to short to mad. Extremely rare that anything bothers me.
Angela: I owned a hotel in Loudonville and my 3rd daughter was born at home there.

Chad: What I appreciate most is being part of a community where people genuinely care.
Heidi: What I love most about our church community is the honest, straightforward teaching of God’s Word and messages that consistently challenge me to grow deeper in my faith.

Our church community feels very family like.

Enjoy walking around our property and taking photos of the country scenery, plant and animal life.

Going to amusement parks (Cedar Point especially) with my children and grandchildren. Also, just family time in general.

We have been with NorthWinds since the very first worship service here in 2013 as a campus of New Hope Church. We were part of the group helping to reorganize when we became NorthWinds and have been primarily involved in the financial areas. We appreciate the welcoming culture, the amazing music, and the weekly preaching of the gospel.
We grew up near Lexington and after marriage lived in Columbus before Ron was transferred to this area (Westfield Insurance) in 1995. We have two grown kids, our daughter Jana (Mark) with her family of 5, and son Jeffrey (Grace). We love spending time with family.
We are retired. We are longtime Bruce Springsteen fans and enjoyed attending many concerts over the years but more recently love contemporary Christian music and concerts. Ron likes being outdoors golfing, walking or bike riding. Lynn likes reading, serving, and snuggling with our cats Misty and Magic.
